Kalanamak Rice is an exquisite indigenous scented Rice variety, which derives its name from Kala (attributed to the black colour of the paddy) & Namak (attributed to the saline soil where this paddy best grows). When Lord Budha visited Kapilavastu for the first time after attaining nirvana, he gave this rice as Prasad to the villagers. This wonder rice is a Diabetic Friendly rice, given its low Glycemic Index (Low GI).
